County Over 55s Pairs
As reported a couple of days ago, Pauline and Su got through to the final of the over 55s pairs which they were due to play at Thirsk during the Ladies' County Finals Day. Unfortunately, just before the final, Su injured her leg, ended up on crutches and had to withdraw. Thankfully, Tina stepped in so that the game could be played rather than forfeited but they lost to a Northallerton duo.

Strawberry Cream Tea
Despite the heat, this wonderful event was supported by the village alongside club members. Sue and Carol had worked extremely hard to produce such an array of food with Barbara B helping out in the kitchen. Thanks must also go to Steve and Christine G for setting up the hall and Sheila, Mark and Graham for helping to clear away after a very successful afternoon.
12th July

Nothing to beat, then?
An interesting social bowling session was had by everyone tonight! Due to the lack of rain, the green is bowling extremely quickly and wide and getting close to the jack was a challenge. Thirteen bowls on the green and only one anywhere near and that wasn't very near. Spot the jack in the photo!
16th June
On a perfect afternoon for bowling, the Yorkshire Patrons visited the club for the annual game against our club. Unfortunately, Bishop Monkton was unable to raise the required number of players so players from other clubs, including Boroughbridge and Burton Leonard, stepped in to help - many thanks to them. After the introductions, welcome and team announcements, all six rinks were in use and it was lovely to see a full green. The game finished with a win for us 105 shots to 101. There are too many people to thank individually for all the work put in to organise the day - getting players, ordering, buying and preparing food, selling raffle tickets, setting up the green etc - a big thank you to you all!

Unfortunately, Yorkshire lost the game but did manage to win one rink and draw another.

3rd June
Thank you ladies!
A big thank you to Carol and Angie for tackling the weeds around the green. This was Carol's second session having spent some time last night making a start. There is still some work to be done before Friday when the club is hosting a Yorkshire Ladies Stella Logan game so please consider giving a few minutes of your time. Even if, when you go for a social bowling session, you just pull up a handful of weeds before you start it would be very helpful.
3rd June
Chairperson's Challenge
Congratulations to Shaun Slator and Barbara Bolton who won the Chairperson's Challenge competition. They were presented their trophies by Chair Carol Pawson.

Coffee Morning
There was an excellent turnout for the coffee morning both from the club and the village and, as it was held in the Methodist Church, passers-by popped in too. The entry fee gave you a cuppa and a piece of home-made cake. Both an excellent raffle and a table laden with cakes for sale proved very popular. Thank you to everyone for your support.
12th April

Great news! The green is opening for the season from tomorrow (Saturday 12th) at 2pm. It is proposed to have the first social bowling session of the season at 2pm Sunday but anyone can have a practice tomorrow.

Thanks to everyone who turned up to help at the pre-season tidy up at the green. Thanks also to Mark Summerscales and Ann and Alan Paskin who went separately at a different time. The group made a large inroad into the tidy up but there is still more to do. The weather forecast this week is good therefore we are requesting that anyone who has a spare hour should pop up to the green and continue the work.

Monday Club Night
Due to the low number of people taking part in Monday Club Night and many members saying that 5 - 7pm was a difficult time, it has been decided that it will revert to its original time of 6 - 8pm. It will now be an open roll-up night when people who are interested in joining the club can come along and have a go. The Walkabout trophy will no longer be played for.
