County Over 55s Pairs
As reported a couple of days ago, Pauline and Su got through to the final of the over 55s pairs which they were due to play at Thirsk during the Ladies' County Finals Day. Unfortunately, just before the final, Su injured her leg, ended up on crutches and had to withdraw. Thankfully, Tina stepped in so that the game could be played rather than forfeited but they lost to a Northallerton duo.

Half-time Brew
The over 75s half-time brew! What a wonderful afternoon watching these two gentlemen play.

Good Luck
Congratulations to Pauline and Su who have won through to the final of the county 'Over 55 Pairs' competition. They play the final against a team from Northallerton on Saturday 26th July at Thirsk as part of the County Final's Weekend.
24th July
Our ladies played at home against one of the Thirsk teams in the second round which turned out to be a close and friendly game in variable weather conditions! Unfortunately, we drew one rink and lost the other therefore losing the overall match by 5 shots.
22nd July
Strawberry Cream Tea
Despite the heat, this wonderful event was supported by the village alongside club members. Sue and Carol had worked extremely hard to produce such an array of food with Barbara B helping out in the kitchen. Thanks must also go to Steve and Christine G for setting up the hall and Sheila, Mark and Graham for helping to clear away after a very successful afternoon.
12th July
First Senior's Singles Game
In blistering heat, Dave and Ken decided to play first to 15 rather than first to 21. Ken even bowled shading himself with an umbrella - not a bad idea!
12th July
Pesky Pigeons!
A big thank you to Bill, those pesky pigeons won't get into the kitchen to build their nest anymore. Well done Bill.

County Pairs Semi-final
Four teams, including Sally and Brenda, travelled to West Bank Park in York for their semi-final games of the county pairs competition. All the players found the green very difficult with both games being close and, unfortunately, Sally and Brenda lost to a pair from North Duffield.
10th July
County Pairs
If you were unable to get down to the green this afternoon to watch the county pairs competition, you missed an exhibition of bowling of the highest standard from four of our county players. It was a very exciting game in which Sally and Brenda came out winners against Su and Pauline. Well done to all four ladies!

Nothing to beat, then?
An interesting social bowling session was had by everyone tonight! Due to the lack of rain, the green is bowling extremely quickly and wide and getting close to the jack was a challenge. Thirteen bowls on the green and only one anywhere near and that wasn't very near. Spot the jack in the photo!

On a perfect afternoon for bowling, the Yorkshire Patrons visited the club for the annual game against our club. Unfortunately, Bishop Monkton was unable to raise the required number of players so players from other clubs, including Boroughbridge and Burton Leonard, stepped in to help - many thanks to them. After the introductions, welcome and team announcements, all six rinks were in use and it was lovely to see a full green. The game finished with a win for us 105 shots to 101. There are too many people to thank individually for all the work put in to organise the day - getting players, ordering, buying and preparing food, selling raffle tickets, setting up the green etc - a big thank you to you all!

County game played at the club
The club hosted a Yorkshire Ladies game with the Stella Logan team playing against Northumberland. Four of our club's six county players were involved today (Emma isn't playing at the moment due to illness and Pauline plays for the Northern Trophy team). Thank you to all those who came to support us, Sue Edmond for all her hard work serving refreshments and Angie and Emma for setting up the rinks. Unfortunately, Yorkshire lost the game but did manage to win one rink and draw another.

3rd June
Thank you ladies!
A big thank you to Carol and Angie for tackling the weeds around the green. This was Carol's second session having spent some time last night making a start. There is still some work to be done before Friday when the club is hosting a Yorkshire Ladies Stella Logan game so please consider giving a few minutes of your time. Even if, when you go for a social bowling session, you just pull up a handful of weeds before you start it would be very helpful.

First Social Bowling Session of the Season
Fourteen players and one spectator turned up for the first social bowling session this year. A bit chillier than recently but still sunny and good conditions for bowling.
13th April
Coffee Morning
There was an excellent turnout for the coffee morning both from the club and the village and, as it was held in the Methodist Church, passers-by popped in too. The entry fee gave you a cuppa and a piece of home-made cake. Both an excellent raffle and a table laden with cakes for sale proved very popular. Thank you to everyone for your support.
12th April
Bowling Green Opening
Great news! The green is opening for the season from tomorrow (Saturday 12th) at 2pm. It is proposed to have the first social bowling session of the season at 2pm Sunday but anyone can have a practice tomorrow.
11th April
PLEASE NOTE that the coffee morning is being held in the Methodist Chapel as the village hall is in use by the BBC.
8th April
Games Night
A big thank you to everyone who made the games night such a success - organisers, people who helped on the night and those who came along on the evening to join in the fun. A fantastic £1,000 was raised for the club.
4th April
Gardening Party
Thanks to everyone who turned up to help at the pre-season tidy up at the green. Thanks also to Mark Summerscales and Ann and Alan Paskin who went separately at a different time. The group made a large inroad into the tidy up but there is still more to do. The weather forecast this week is good therefore we are requesting that anyone who has a spare hour should pop up to the green and continue the work.
17th March

Congratulations to the five ladies from the club who have been selected for Yorkshire squads:
Northern Trophy - Pauline Beecroft
Stella Logan - Brenda Benson, Sally Scott, Su Armstrong and Sandra Roberts
5th March

27th February
Dress Code
For those of you who were not at the AGM and may not have read the small print at the bottom of your Competition Entry Form, it was agreed that the club would move towards navy blue trousers/shorts/skirts as our club colours. Grey will remain acceptable for the moment.
23rd February
First Mow
Thanks to Rex Whistler and Robin Filippi, the green has had its first mow of the year. Looking good!
3rd February
Monday Club Night
Due to the low number of people taking part in Monday Club Night and many members saying that 5 - 7pm was a difficult time, it has been decided that it will revert to its original time of 6 - 8pm. It will now be an open roll-up night when people who are interested in joining the club can come along and have a go. The Walkabout trophy will no longer be played for.
