First Social Bowling Session of the Season
Fourteen players and one spectator turned up for the first social bowling session this year. A bit chillier than recently but still sunny and good conditions for bowling.
13th April
Coffee Morning
There was an excellent turnout for the coffee morning both from the club and the village and, as it was held in the Methodist Church, passers-by popped in too. The entry fee gave you a cuppa and a piece of home-made cake. Both an excellent raffle and a table laden with cakes for sale proved very popular. Thank you to everyone for your support.
12th April
Bowling Green Opening
Great news! The green is opening for the season from tomorrow (Saturday 12th) at 2pm. It is proposed to have the first social bowling session of the season at 2pm Sunday but anyone can have a practice tomorrow.
11th April
PLEASE NOTE that the coffee morning is being held in the Methodist Chapel as the village hall is in use by the BBC.
8th April
Games Night
A big thank you to everyone who made the games night such a success - organisers, people who helped on the night and those who came along on the evening to join in the fun. A fantastic £1,000 was raised for the club.
4th April
Gardening Party
Thanks to everyone who turned up to help at the pre-season tidy up at the green. Thanks also to Mark Summerscales and Ann and Alan Paskin who went separately at a different time. The group made a large inroad into the tidy up but there is still more to do. The weather forecast this week is good therefore we are requesting that anyone who has a spare hour should pop up to the green and continue the work.
17th March
County Teams
Congratulations to the five ladies from the club who have been selected for Yorkshire squads:
Northern Trophy - Pauline Beecroft
Stella Logan - Brenda Benson, Sally Scott, Su Armstrong and Sandra Roberts
5th March
Gardening Work Party
There will be a gardening working party on Friday 14th March at 9.30am. The more people who turn up, the quicker the job will be done. Please bring any tools you may have - hedge trimmers, secateurs etc.
27th February
Dress Code
For those of you who were not at the AGM and may not have read the small print at the bottom of your Competition Entry Form, it was agreed that the club would move towards navy blue trousers/shorts/skirts as our club colours. Grey will remain acceptable for the moment.
23rd February
First Mow
Thanks to Rex Whistler and Robin Filippi, the green has had its first mow of the year. Looking good!
3rd February
Monday Club Night
Due to the low number of people taking part in Monday Club Night and many members saying that 5 - 7pm was a difficult time, it has been decided that it will revert to its original time of 6 - 8pm. It will now be an open roll-up night when people who are interested in joining the club can come along and have a go. The Walkabout trophy will no longer be played for.
